Marcus Collins Was A Worthy Runner Up

Marcus became the third person in the history of X Factor to be a runner up from Liverpool, but his talent cannot be denied. Moves Like Jagger is one of my favourite songs of the year and he did it justice with a blinding version of it. When he sang Jackie Wilson song Reet Petite he gave his best performance of the series. He took a song that is over 50 years old and made it sound fresh and modern. He also had the help of the best possible mentor he could have had in Gary Barlow.

If one thing let him down it was his habit of singing songs from decades gone by and not enough modern stuff from the past few years. I can imagine a lot of the time his fans voting for him were wondering what the song was he was singing as they hadn’t heard it before. I can see him having a few chart hits off the back of the show, but then moving into the West End. He’d be brilliant doing theatre work involved in musicals. Maybe even Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber would be interested in signing him up.
